SAGE Stats and U.S. Political Stats Available

SAGE Publishing offers two interesting databases that Cleveland State Students can access from the Michael Schwartz (main) Library’s list of databases.

U.S. Political Stats is a data download and visualization tool covering all three branches of the United States government. It brings together content from sources like CQ Roll Call and CQ Press and provides a wealth of information on election returns, congressional floor votes, Supreme Court decisions, plus presidential performance and economic indicators. The graphs and other visualizations are great tools for any researcher.

SAGE Stats is a data download and visualization database hosting social science data about U.S. States, counties, cities, and metropolitan statistical areas from more than 150 different government and non-government sources. It spans topics like employment, crime, religion, and education. The data series are standardized, allowing users to easily find, compare, visualize and export.

The textbook will be marketed globally and will mirror the content of Professor Sundahl’s global online course, Space Law: A Global View, which will be offered for the first time in Summer 2018.

CSU Alerts for Weather and Other Important Information

With the closing of the University last Friday and Saturday, we thought it would be a good time to remind people about Cleveland State Alerts. All students and staff can sign up for the alert notifications through CampusNet. Notification can be sent via voice message (mobile and/or land-line), text message, or email; choose one or all of the above.

Law Library Open House: Tuesday, January 30th

The law library is hosting its Spring Semester Open House on Tuesday, January 30 from 3:30pm-6pm at the main entrance to the library. Come and say hi to library staff, CSU services (like the CSU PD and Counseling Services), vendors like Westlaw and LexisNexis, and The Cleveland Law Library.

There will be giveaways and prizes, including a $25 Amazon gift card courtesy of the law library.

It wouldn’t be an Open House “fiesta” without pizza, pop, and nachos. There will be two deliveries of pizza, so join us early or late!

CSU Research Award Opportunities

CSU logoThe Cleveland State University Office of Research Faculty Research and Development Program (FRD) invests “in basic and applied research that would increase the level of federal and industrial research funding received by the University.”  The Faculty Scholarship Initiative (FSI) “funds faculty conducting quality research, or other creative or scholarly activity, that advances the respective field or discipline.”  The next proposal submission deadline for each of these programs is Thursday, February 1, 2018.  The award period for each of these programs is 12 months, and begins on June 1 following award notification.  For additional information and proposal guidelines, faculty should consult the FRD and FSI websites.  Faculty may also contact Joy Yard, Administrative Coordinator, or Daniel Simon, Associate Vice President for Research, in the CSU Office of Research.
