Comment 8: Recommends Podcasts from The Verge
I spend a lot of time commuting every week. Seriously, a lot. One of the benefits of all this time driving is that I can dedicate a lot of time to podcasts. I bounce around from general news (NPR), cybersecurity (Risky.Biz), and interests (World’s Greatest Con). There are two podcasts published by The Verge, however, that I tend to cover topics important to technology and the law. I recommend these two recent pods:
The Vergecast episode: “How to keep your data safe when you travel”
Vergecast episodes usually cover multiple topics and, honestly, not all those topics may appeal to you; however, the often deep-dive into really relevant stuff. This episode has a long segment about protecting you data if you’ll be traveling through border zones. They discuss strategies for protection and the kinds of digital searches that border agents can engage in.
“But why is that important to me,” I can hear you wondering. Easy, as future lawyers you are going to have sensitive data on your devices either locally or through the cloud. It’s important to make sure you are protecting that data.
Decoder with Nilay Patel episode: “The case for breaking up Google has never been stronger”
Decoder is a great podcast where Nilay interviews people, often C-suite executives, to understand how they make their decisions and organize their departments/offices/businesses/etc. In this episode Nilay interviews former assistant attorney general for antitrust Jonathan Kanter. This was the first interview that I’m aware of since Kanter stepped-down from his position. By the end I understood anti-trust and how Kanter organized his office much better.
