Ohio Jurisprudence 3d, The Buckeye State’s Legal Encyclopedia

Quick, name the best place to start researching any legal topic in Ohio. That’s right, Ohio Jurisprudence 3d, affectionately known as OhJur, gives you a straightforward overview of everything from abandoned property to workers’ comp.

OhJur sections explain the law in relatively easy to read language, and point you to relevant statutes and leading caselaw in the footnotes. You will also sometimes see references to related forms, or other secondary sources.

While OhJur is not likely to be the only source you’ll consult for your Ohio research question, it’s a great way to get started on any topic.

Fun fact about OhJur – The original Ohio Jurisprudence was originally published in 1928 (we’re now on the third series) and had chapters on topics that are no longer covered, like railways, bounties, salvage, party walls, and insurrection.
