#CSU4SAAM – Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and CSU has been honoring those affected by sexual assault and violence with programming and resources. Teal is the color of sexual assault awareness.

Today’s Courageous Conversations Event Series is on Moving Toward A Healthier Us, a conversation focused on how relationship development and significant influences impact sexual and intimate partner violence. The event is over Zoom and takes place today at 12:00 – 1:15p. Register here for this free event.

Here are some facts about sexual assault –

  • 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 18+ have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime
  • About 1 in 3 Latinas will experience intimate partner violence during their lifetime
  • Over 20% of Black women experience rape during their lifetime but only 1 in 5 women actually report their attack to proper authorities
  • 44% of lesbian women and 26% of gay men have experienced rape, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner at some point in their lifetime
  • Approximately 47% of transgender people are sexually assaulted during their lifetimes
