Masks Required in Cleveland, Akron, and Other High-Risk Parts of Ohio

Coronavirus cases are increasing at an alarming rate in Ohio. According to recent reporting, one-third of the state’s reported cases have happened in the last month. Likewise, in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County, the numbers of COVID cases are dramatically increasing. Increases are also happening in suburban rural areas such as Lake County.  The Cuyahoga County Board of Health has data on cases available by zip code on its website.

According to the Ohio Governor’s Office, Cuyahoga County is one of seven  Red Alert Level 3 counties. Red Alert Level 3 indicates that there is a very high risk of exposure and spread in these counties. Everyone in these counties is required to wear a mask in public per the order of the Ohio Department of Health. Cleveland and Akron have added to this directive by adding possible penalties for non-compliance.  

To report people or businesses not complying with mask orders in Cuyahoga County, the county has set up a webpage and phone number 216-698-5050. You can report your contact information or provide information anonymously.
