Ohio and State Constitutions Research

When seeking information on the Ohio Constitution and current constitutional issues, check out the Ohio Constitution – Law and History Guide. This research guide includes references to primary and secondary sources, information on Ohio’s previous constitutions and conventions, tables tracking proposed amendments, suggested resources by topic, and more.

State Constitutions Illustrated is another great resource for state constitution research and is available on HeinOnline. It is a collection of the constitutions of the 50 United States, together with related documents and resources. Containing the text of every constitution that has been in force for every state with the original, consolidated, and current texts plus an extensive collection of documents from before statehood, State Constitutions Illustrated provides comprehensive coverage and allows researchers to compare multiple editions from multiple sources.

Finally, Rutgers University’s State Constitutional Documents is a free online resource. This collection contains the Constitutions, Constitutional Convention records, and other related documents for the constitutions of the 50 United States. They were scanned from the law library’s microfiche collection.
