2Ls: Need Help Finding Your Old Addresses for the Bar Application?

If you plan to take the bar exam in Ohio, your Application to Register as a Candidate for Admission must be submitted by November 15, 2017 (or pay a penalty thereafter). Part of the application requires you to provide your past addresses and employment history, which can be done easily using the Public Records Search on Lexis Advance:

  1. Log onto www.lexisnexis.com/lawschool
  2. Click on “Go to Lexis Advance” and choose Public Records from the Explore Content box
  3. Start with “Locate a Person”
  4. Enter all the information (the LexID can be left blank). Be sure to enter your Social Security number with dashes.
  5. A report should appear with your name on the left side; click on your name and the search will return all of your prior addresses. Click on other links in the report to find additional information.

**You can only run these reports on yourself. You can use it for clinic work (to locate a witness, for example), but you are not permitted to run searches to find anyone else.***–Per our Lexis Rep, Jen Durkin. If you have questions or need help with anything else Lexis-related, email Jen at  jennifer.durkin@lexisnexis.com or call/text at 216.744.3690.
