State Bills Would Prohibit Undercover Videos of Agricultural Facilities

Undercover investigation videos taken in agricultural facilities are frequently used to document unsafe health conditions and animal abuse—and are used as tools for membership recruitment for animal rights organizations. Three states have bills out that would prohibit this practice. Bills in Iowa, Florida, and Minnesota would prohibit the recording of images in agricultural facilities without the consent of the business owners. The Iowa bill passed in both the House and the Senate, but has come under review by the state attorney general on free speech concerns.
