Law Library Research Certificate Seminars

The Law Library is pleased to announce the full schedule of its Research Certificate Seminars this Spring Semester 2011.  See the list of days, times, and topics below.  Except for the March 2nd Casemaker and March 24th Fastcase Seminars, all Seminars will take place in Law Library Room A059, and attendance is limited to 20 students.  The Casemaker and Fastcase Seminars will take place in Law Building Room 208.

Attendees of an hour Seminar will earn 25 points toward a Law Library Research Certificate.  Attendees of an 1/2 hour Seminar will earn 12.5 points.  Certificates will be awarded to students with 100 Seminar points.  To register for a Seminar, and for additional information on them, please contact Laura Ray, Educational Programming Librarian, 216-687-6880, laura.ray@law.csuohio.edu.

* Zotero is a free, easy to use Web Browser tool that helps one to collect, organize, cite, and share research sources.
* Casemaker is an online legal research service, free to members of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA).  Law students can join the OSBA for free.  Casemaker includes federal and 50-state resources.
* Fastcase is an online legal research service that includes federal and 50-state resources.  It is free to members of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.  Remote Seminar attendees with PCs will need Windows® 7, Vista, XP or 2003 Server.  Macintosh®-based attendees will need Mac OS®X 10.4.11 (Tiger®) or newer.

Research Certificate Seminars discuss research materials and resources critical to successful legal practice and scholarly writing, as well as focus on research skills law firms and courts are seeking when hiring associates and clerks.  Presented by our team of research librarians, the Seminars offer a unique forum for students to learn more about specific research topics.
