Baseball is not always perfect
The mighty Cleveland Indians were one out away from being on the receiving end of a perfect game by Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga, who also is Venezuelan by the way. The last call for the would-be final out was to put it mildly, awful. The umpire, Jim Joyce, even admitted after the game that he blew the call and perfect game. There can be hope though, as the big commish in the sky, Bud Selig, can overturn the call. giving the Tigers pitcher a well deserved perfect game and a spot in baseball history. An article from the New York Daily News talks about the letter of the law in baseball and the spirit of the law. While we are on the subject of the law in baseball, this fine library has a great selection of books dealing with the legal issues of our national past time. The Little White Book of Baseball Law is so popular that its not due back until June 14th! Settle down now, the library, or the C|M| dub L as I like to call it, has many more materials to keep you occupied. A good start would be Legal Issues in Professional Baseball, and if that doesn’t satisfy you then take a look on the atrium level in the KF 3900 area.
