Lexis for MicroSoft Office Now Has Quote & Cite Checking, Table of Authorities Builder
Lexis for Microsoft Office can save a lot of time when writing papers by checking to make sure you used proper Bluebook format, creating a Table of Authorities automatically and checking quotes from cases or other documents. You can also pull up a case or other document, view it side by side with your Word document and copy and paste from the case easily. Here is a demo to see how it works.
Note that you must check citations before checking quotes or inserting a TOA.
According to this Article on Lexis InfoPro, the citation checker:
- Updates citation formats automatically to short or long form according to the citation’s location within the document
- Offers suggested corrections during the review process
- Verifies formatting and work by retrieving text of cited documents
- Provides style preference settings for multiple style manuals
You can select how you want to organize the Table of Authorities, for example, by jurisdiction or order of appearance. A jurisdiction specific table can be created.
You must download the current version for the new citation formatting tools. Lexis for Microsoft Office can be downloaded for free by logging on to Lexis and clicking on Free Downloads. For more information on other features of Lexis for Microsoft Office see this video.
