The Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law for Reference, Bibliographies & Citation Mining

The Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law is an online authoritative reference source providing short background articles on a wide range of public international law topics such as humanitarian law, human rights, criminal law, environmental law, the law of the sea, and more.

The short articles in the Encyclopedia can serve as an easy starting point for your international law research. Each article includes a list of cited documents, cases, or other materials, making it a quick way to gather additional sources for your research.

For example, the article on Customary International Law gives an overview of the topic, and includes an extensive bibliography of additional authoritative sources, as well as international caselaw and other documents.

It is worth noting that some articles in the Encyclopedia are becoming dated, so additional research is in order, although their relevance for finding precedential cases and other legal documents remains strong.
