The Cleveland State University College of Law is holding its annual IP+ Conference on Friday, October 4, 2024. The Conference is completely free, and one can attend in-person at CSU|Law or virtually. The “Keynote Fireside Chat” will feature Vaishali Udupa, Commissioner for Patents at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, who will discuss her role at the USPTO, how patent law and the USPTO have changed, as well as upcoming challenges and opportunities for the USPTO in new technology. The “Healthcare and Intellectual Property Law” session will explore the intersection of medicine and intellectual property law, focusing on the protection of medical innovations through patents and trade secrets. The “AI and Ethics” session will explore the legal and ethical implications of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on the challenges posed by deepfakes and AI-driven technologies in the political arena. The concluding “State of Intellectual Property Law” session will highlight recent case law and legislative developments. The Conference has 4.5 hours CLE, including 1.5 Ethics CLE, pending.
