FCC Consumer Resources for Avoiding COVID-19 Scams
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) provides a consumer help site on Coronavirus Scams. The site includes information on phone and text scams that offer to pay for a vaccine, make a vaccine appointment, provide free home test kits, and provide financial assistance. Other noted scams concern COVID contact tracing, package deliveries, and peer-to-peer mobile payment apps. Each of the scam information pages include tips for avoiding scams, and many pages include sample audio clips and texts. The FCC site also provides links to a Scam Glossary and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Report Fraud page.
