9/17/2026 CSU|LAW Constitution Day Program

On Thursday, September 17, 2026, CSU|LAW is presenting a free Constitution Day program at 6pm in the Moot Court Room – The Establishment and the Establishment Clause: The Future of Religion in American Public Square.  The speaker will be David Yost, Senior Counsel and Vice President of Policy Innovation, Alliance Defending Freedom, and former Ohio Attorney General.  Following the US Supreme Court’s Kennedy v. Bremerton School District decision, Establishment Clause law is in a state of uncertainty.  The 2022 ruling sidelined the Lemon test, the standard courts had used for decades to decide these cases, yet an entire generation of lawyers continues to advise their clients cautiously, as though Lemon still applied.  What is the law, and where is it going?  This program is being co-sponsored by CSU|LAW and the CSU Center for Civics, Culture and Society.  September 17 is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, commemorating the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, as well as “recognizes all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens.” [See Pub.
