Northern District of Ohio Judge Issues Rare Ruling in FirstEnergy Shareholders Suit

In a rare ruling this week, U.S. District Judge John Adams dismissed [Docket – Miller v. Anderson (5:20-cv-01743)] attorneys representing FirstEnergy shareholders in a lawsuit over the House Bill 6 bribery scandal.  The judge’s ruling was based on his belief that the attorneys tried to evade his oversight of the case and that they refused to “offer a legitimate rationale” for a settlement in a companion case filed in federal court in Columbus. Adams will appoint new attorneys to represent the shareholders. The dismissed attorneys are expected to appeal.
