Local Outdoor Activities To Do This Winter

Around the end of the fall semester we typically suggest fun things to do in the area during break. With the pandemic this year, the list is shorter. Nonetheless, some fun activities are still available:

  • Holiday Light Shows/Winterfest: Downtown Cleveland, Public Square, Nov. 28 – Jan. 3, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Enjoy animated light and sound shows. Check out these photos from Cleveland.com of the opening last weekend.
  • Take a Hike: Cleveland Metroparks offer many hiking and other outdoor activities. This year there are two self-guided downtown walking tours, which highlight Cleveland’s Grand Department Stores and Historic Hotels.
  • Tobogganing in Strongsville: A yearly winter tradition that remains open this year, but reservations are required to control the number of participants daily.
  • Boston Mills and Brandywine Ski Resort: Ski, snowboard, or snow tube just down the highway from Cleveland.
