Forthcoming Article Examines Law Student Debt

Law school debt is a common phenomenon among law students. An article that will appear in a 2021 volume of the University of Illinois Law Review examines the connection between law school debt and career choices. Author Christopher Ryan reviews the law student debt crisis, details the Public Loan Forgiveness Program (PLFP), discusses the access-to-justice gap in relation to public-interest drift, and reports on a survey of law student debt and career choice. He concludes that the PLFP, although facing political backfire, remains the best solution to address inequalities in legal education and services.
