Presidential Documents in Title 3 of the CFR
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is the official source for final federal regulations. Like the United States Code, the CFR is organized by topic for easy research. So, for example, you’ll find all of the federal regulations on agriculture in Title 7 of the CFR and the regulations on housing and urban development in Title 24. But Title 3 of the CFR is a little different. This Title covers the President and in it you’ll find presidential proclamations, executive orders, and other presidential documents. All of the documents in Title 3 come from the Executive Office, but they can be on a wide variety of topics. For example, you’ll find a presidential proclamation on National Ocean Month, an executive order on infrastructure, and a memorandum on national security all in the same Title. Remember when you’re doing research that the CFR is not annotated, but you can still KeyCite or Shepardize any CFR provision to find additional related resources.
