Burn Baby Burn (The River, That Is)

This week marks 50 years since the Cuyahoga River fire sparked an environmental movement, eventually leading to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency. While that wasn’t the first time the river caught fire, the attention it garnered helped push environmental reforms.

There are events throughout the week and into the weekend to celebrate the cleanup of the water. Included among the events is the 18th Annual Burning River Fest on historic Whiskey Island.

When beginning research on environmental law, a good resource is our Environmental Law Resource Guide. The main library also has a database of interest in this area, Environment Complete, which contains all of the content available in Environment Index as well as full text for 400 of the most used journals in the discipline and for 80 monographs.
