Author Ira L. Shafiroff has been a professor of law at Southwestern Law School since 1982. He teaches Property and for many years Selected Topics in American Law, a course he designed to prepare students for the California bar exam, emphasizing bar exam essay-writing and multiple-choice testing. He was a longtime lecturer for BARBRI Bar Review, where he created and taught California BARBRI’s first essay-writing course for its general bar review program. Subsequently, he created an essay-writing course for first-year law school students. The first edition of First-Year Law School Success was an outgrowth of this course.
