WLSA Professional Panel on Ethics and Professional Responsibility

WLSA (Women’s Law Students Association) is hosting a panel on professional responsibility on Tuesday, October 16 from 4:10-5:30 pm in Room LB60. All are welcome to attend.

The panel will try to address the following, along with answering student questions:

  • What happens when a client files a grievance on an attorney or judge?
  • What are the pitfalls of young attorneys re: code of conduct and professional responsibility?
  • How does the Bar Association look at issues of honesty regarding your past or present?
  • What is legal malpractice really about?

Panelists:

  • Monica Sansalone, Esq. Partner, Professional Liability Practice Group Manager at Gallagher Sharp LLP; JD, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, 1995. Monica represents lawyers in grievance proceedings and defends them against malpractice claims. She provides representation in trial courts and on appeal, including matters before the Supreme Court of Ohio, and is counsel for risk management matters, pre-suit evaluation, claim repair, and professionalism issues.
  • Heather Zirke, Esq. Bar Counsel, Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA); JD, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, 2002. As Bar Counsel for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, Heather serves as an advisor to the CMBA’s grievance, ethics, and unauthorized practice of law, fee dispute, and admissions committees. Prior to joining the CMBA in 2005, Ms. Zirke was an Assistant Prosecutor for the City of Cleveland.
