Things Going on in Cleveland Over Break

  1. Candy Land Has Gone Wild–Noon to 5 p.m. through Jan. 1; Lake Metroparks Penitentiary Glen Nature Center, 8668 Kirtland-Chardon Road, Kirtland. The Lake Metroparks Penitentiary Glen Nature Center is bringing the iconic kids game to life for the third year with their Candy Land Has Gone Wild game – played just like the iconic board game Candy Land, but with a “natural twist.”
  2. See a play at Playhouse Square. A Christmas Carol and a Christmas Story are two notable offerings this holiday season.
  3. Rink at Public Square /Winterfest. Nov. 24 – Feb 28, 2017; Public Square. Get some fresh air and exercise with a nice skate at the rink at Public Square.  At night the square is lit up for the holiday season.
  4. Glow at the Cleveland Botanical Garden; Nov. 24 – Dec. 31; 11030 East Blvd., This year’s indoor and outdoor winter wonderland features more than 100 gingerbread houses, tree displays, model trains, kids activities, an outdoor Garden Express train, a two-story tree, light displays, a Treetop Shop and Sweet Shop for young browsers, decorate-your-own-gingerbread and more.
  1. Cleveland State Basketball v. Toledo 12/23, 2 pm Wolstein Center. Cleveland State Basketball v. Youngstown State 1/1 1pm Wolstein Center.
  1. A Christmas Story House-open 7 days a week from 10am – 5pm. 3159 W. 11th Street, Cleveland, OH The house used in the popular holiday classic “A Christmas Story” has been restored to its original 1983 movie appearance. The house takes visitors on a nostalgic journey to the sights and scenes where Ralphie Parker dreams of nothing but receiving a genuine Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine Action Air Rifle for Christmas. In addition to A Christmas Story House, visitors can explore the museum where items from the movie are on display, more than 100 behind-the-scenes photos are featured and movie-related memorabilia can be purchased.
  2. Cleveland Monsters Hockey v. Milwaukee, 12/22/17 and 12/23/17, 7pm Quicken Loans Arena.
  3. Cleveland Museum of Art Jazz Age exhibit. 11150 East Blvd, Cleveland, OH 44106. The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s is the first major museum exhibition to focus on American taste in art and design during the dynamic years of the 1920s and early 1930s.
  4. Go Tobogganing at the Cleveland Metroparks.
  5. See the Black Nativity at Karamu House. 2355 East 89th Street. An annual Cleveland tradition, the Black Nativity, written by hometown literary master Langston Hughes, is a retelling of the Gospel according to St. Luke, set to the music and dance of the Black church.
