Scout: Free Alerts for State Bills, Federal Bills & Regs

Scout allows you to track new federal and state legislation and federal regulations for issues you care about.  Scout searches  federal bills (2009-), proposed and new federal regulations (2009-), federal speeches on the floor of Congress, and state bills.  (More information on coverage). Searches can be filtered by type of document (bill, regulation, speech) and jurisdiction (federal, states, a specific state).   For Ohio, the coverage appears to be the most current legislative session.    You can set up email alerts to receive updates to the search.

GovTrack.us, a free tracking service for federal legislation, just added tracking for state legislation this month.   The state legislation portion of GovTrack is still in beta.  A few sample searches for Ohio legislation yielded more results in Scout, but this may change as GovTrack improves its state information.
