image of empty judge's chairCrisis In the Courts:  The New White House Confirmations Initiative and the Impacts of Judicial Vacancy on Justice will take place on Thursday, 31 May 2012, from 12noon till 2pm, in the C|M|Law Moot Court Room.  Moderated by Dan Moulthrop, Curator, The Civic Commons Conversations, this program will “debate the causes of the unprecedented vacancy crisis in the federal courts, its impact on the administration of justice and American liberties, and the new White House effort to end the stalemate.”  The distinguished panel includes Jonathan Adler, Johan Verheij Memorial Professor of Law, Case Western Reserve University School of Law; Marge Baker, Executive Vice President for Policy and Program, People for the American Way; The Honorable James S. Gwin, Judge, United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio; Christopher Kang, Senior Counsel to the President, Office of the White House Counsel; Jeremy Paris, Chief Counsel for Nominations and Oversight for Senator Patrick Leahy, U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary; and Michael Zubrensky, Deputy Assistant Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Policy.  This program is being co-sponsored by C|M|Law, the Alliance for Justice, the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, the National Council of Jewish Women, and People for the American Way.  It provides 2 free hours of CLE.  A light lunch will be served at 11:30am.
