Here are some resources helpful for those with legal related jobs in Ohio this summer:
- Court Dockets list everything filed in the case from the complaint to the final judgment entry and more. Some dockets such as the Summit County Docket have the full text of the filings available. Use dockets to find sample pleadings and motions and to find out the cases a person or company is involved in. PACER contains the federal court dockets. More on Dockets.
- The “Bluebook” for Ohio is the Supreme Court of Ohio Writing Manual. The manual contains examples of how to cite cases and other legal authority when you are writing a brief to submit to an Ohio court. - Ohio Regulations are contained in the Ohio Administrative Code and updated by the Register of Ohio. More on regulations.
- Ohio Legislative History – Find the relevant session law (cited with a House Bill or Senate Bill number) by looking at the “History” or “Credits” section underneath the text of the annotated Ohio Revised Code in Lexis or Westlaw. Then find the session law and legislative history documents, such as LSC Analysis, on the General Assembly’s Site 1997-, or Hannah Capitol Connection 1989-. More on Legislative History.

- Ohio Criminal Law Resource Guide – which includes General Research Tips for Ohio Criminal Law – a list of practical tips for finding elements of an offense, defenses, lesser included offenses, sentences and more.
