New Ohio Cyberbullying Law

Image of girl holding cell phone with "I hate you" messageThe Jessica Logan Act (H.B. 116) was recently passed by the Ohio General Assembly, adding “electronic acts” to Ohio Revised Code sections concerning Boards of Education policies, as well as  student and employee in-service trainings, addressing harassment and bullying.  The Act is named for a Sycamore High School student who committed suicide after months of harassment incited by the spread of a nude picture of her in a text message.  For additional information, the reader may want to consult the Law Library’s Cyberbullying Resource Guide.
