New On WestlawNext: Topics
A new feature on WestlawNext is the ability to select a topical area to search, such as criminal law, estate planning or real property. It is similar to going to the Directory in Classic Westlaw, and clicking on Topical Materials by Area of Practice, and selecting the desired topic. Just click on the Topics tab from the WestlawNext home screen and pick a topic. You may search the everything in the topical area on WestlawNext or pick one or more of the sources listed. (Notice that Native American law sources are now uploaded to WestlawNext.)
You may want to use Topics when your search contains terms relevant to multiple practice areas. The article in Westlaw Edge gives the example of “abandonment” as a search term relevant to real estate or family law. As another example, you may want criminal conversion cases, but not civil.
