State Justice Institute logoProposal deadlines for State Justice Institute grants and Elder Justice Innovation Grants are approaching.  The nonprofit State Justice Institute (SJI) “was established by federal law in 1984 to award grants to improve the quality of justice in state courts, and foster innovative, efficient solutions to common issues faced by all courts.”  In Fiscal Year 2017, SJI is funding 6 types of grants:  Project Grants, Technical Assistance Grants, Curriculum Adaptation and Training Grants, Partner Grants, Strategic Initiatives Grants, and the Education Support Program.  SJI grant applications for the 4th quarter of FY 2017 are due August 1, 2017.  For more information, see 42 U.S.C. Reg. 70231 (Oct. 11, 2016).  The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living (ACL) “established the Elder Justice Innovation Grants program to support efforts aimed at increasing knowledge about effective prevention and intervention of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults, native elders, adults with disabilities, people who self-neglect, and guardianship abuse.” ACL Elder Justice Innovation Grant applications are due August 14, 2017; the Letter of Intent is due July 9, 2017.  For more information, see 42 U.S.C. 1397j et. seq. and the grant listing in Grants.gov.
