GroundBooth: Advanced Outlining Tool, Chat with Study Groups, More
GroundBooth is a FREE service, useful for both law students and faculty. Art Geigel, a second year C|M|LAW student, designed and built GroundBooth. As a former web designer and programmer, he desired to build a better system for outlining and chatting than those currently available.
GroundBooth allows law students to:
- Chat with friends, study groups or even an entire class all at once. No more communicating with one person at a time, as on Facebook.
- Build outlines automatically as they take notes and brief cases throughout the semester. The outlines can be expanded and collapsed for easy organization and access. The student can hover over a lightbulb to see what is in part of a collapsed outline. Professors’ handouts can be attached to the appropriate part of the outline.
- Brief Cases using a template and insert briefs into the relevant part of the outline.
- Automatically create flashcards from the case briefs.
- Share parts of their outlines with other students. (Even students in a study group can not see other group members’ entire outline.)
- Post notes to themselves using sticky notes.
- Anonymously rate professors and view other students’ ratings.
Faculty can:
- Respond to student faculty ratings.
- Make an announcement to the class.
- Attach files.
- Participate in chats.
- Post notes to themselves using sticky notes.
The service is currently available to C|M|LAW students and faculty, as well as students and faculty at Case, Akron and Moritz law schools. To access, set up a free account, then enroll in your classes. Take this virtual tour for more information, or read the Press-Release. Follow GroundBooth on Twitter at www.twitter.com/groundbooth.
Art Giegel applied for and received a provisional patent for GroundBooth, with the general oversight of (not legal representation by) adjunct professor Thomas C. Adams.
