This Just In: Conflicts in Space and the Rule of Law

Conflicts in Space and the Rule of Law is not about Han Solo or any other part of the Star Wars franchise. It does, however, cover the military and non-military use of space and how any conflicts that arise should be governed. The book contains chapters that were papers submitted to the 4^th Annual International Conference on Conflicts in Space and the Rule of Law.

While most people don’t think about space much, perhaps they should since our phones, GPS, and other communication and entertainment systems have a satellite or satellites in space as a key component of their system. Conflict in space can take on forms other than the obvious violent clash of forces: frequency jamming or other interference, frequency misuse, and corporate espionage are just a few issues that the book covers. Other interesting sections address the use of space by non-state actors, specifically multi-national corporations. The book concludes with a chapter on the way forward—five different and specific models for future global space governance.
