ACLM Hirsh Student Writing Competition
The American College of Legal Medicine is calling for submissions for its Student Writing Competition in Law, Medicine & Bioethics. The submission deadline is January 4, 2013. The 1st place paper will be named the Hirsh Award Winner, and receive $1,000 as well as the cost of travel and lodging to present the paper at the February 2013 ACLM Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV. The 2nd and 3rd place papers will receive $500 and $250 awards respectively; all submitted papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of Legal Medicine or other medical legal publications. Papers written for scholarly classes may be submitted as long as they have not been published. Paper topics may deal with any aspect of legal medicine, including medical licensure and regulation of the profession; business aspects of medical practice; liability of physicians, hospitals, managed care organizations, and pharmaceutical manufacturers; public health law; the physician-patient relationship; care of special patients; food and drug law; medical research; forensic science; and the history of legal medicine.
