Free CLE Lecture: Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission – A Discussion
A Free CLE lecture, The Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission: A Discussion, will take place on June 19, 2012, 4-6 p.m., at Thompson Hine LLP, 3900 Key Center, 127 Public Square. More information. C|M|LAW Dean Emeritus Steven Steinglass will moderate the discussion, which features two Commission members: Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D – Kent), State Representative, District 68, Ohio House of Representatives, Member and Sen. Larry Obhof (R-Montville Township), State Senator, District 22, Ohio Senate.
Established in 2011, the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission makes recommendations to the General Assembly as to necessary changes to the Ohio Constitution. If Ohio voters decide to hold a Constitutional Convention in 2012, the Commission will recommend how to organize the Constitutional Convention. The Commission will report to the Convention its recommendations for constitutional revision. The commission will expire in 2021. A similar commission was last established in 1970.
