Ohio Bill on DNA Collection in Felony Charges Introduced
Last Thursday, Ohio Senator John Eklund (R, 18th District) introduced S.B. No. 268 in the Ohio General Assembly. Based on the language of the bill, “If a person…is charged with a felony…[but] has not been arrested…the court shall order the person…to submit to a DNA specimen collection procedure….” [full text of bill] Under current Ohio law, DNA specimens are collected in felony arrests.
