$2,000 Offered for Environmental Law Writing Competition
Writing a seminar paper or note on an environmental law topic? It could win you a couple grand. The 7th Annual Constitutional Environmental Law Student Writing Competition is co-sponsored by the Environmental Law Institute, the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, and the National Association of Environmental Law Societies. The co-sponsors invite submissions on the topic of the constitutional legitimacy of environmental law protections — the focus is on a “federalism” component to environmental law. The co-sponsors propose these paper topics (although submissions need not be limited to the following) –
- Conflict of EPA administrative orders with due process obligations
- Commerce Clauses issues with federal environmental laws
- Arguments that state nuisance law claims in context of climate change are preempted by federal law
- Standing in environmental disputes
- Cooperative federalism model of environmental protection
The deadline for submissions is April 13, 2012. The Environmental Law Institute has complete information.
