Working for a judge, be it as a judicial clerk for 1 to 2 years following law school, or as a judicial staff attorney at some point in your legal career, is considered to be a very prestigious and valued opportunity.  It will often give you an edge in competing for subsequent jobs with both private and public sector employers.
