Ohio Abortion Ban “Heartbeat Bill” Ruled Unconstitutional
The Preterm case In Hamilton County, Ohio dealing with the six weeks abortion ban (AKA The Heartbeat Bill) has been decided. The ruling stated last year’s voter-approved amendment enshrining reproductive rights in the Ohio Constitution renders the law unconstitutional. The ruling permanently enjoins S.B. 23, also known as the Heartbeat bill, which prohibited most abortions after the first detectable fetal heartbeat. The State of Ohio has 30 days to appeal.
