NLM Resources for Medical/Health Law Research
The U.S. National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) National Library of Medicine (NLM) provides scores of medical/health research databases and resources. Several of these are helpful for medical/health law research. PubMed/Medline is the free premier NLM biomedical literature database. It contains over 25 million citations, including medical/health law journals, and many citations include links to full-text articles. Its search template is sophisticated, yet easy to use. You can also save searches, get automatic email alerts, and customize search results via a NCBI account. NLM also produces MedlinePlus®, the free U.S. National Institutes of Health website that provides “information about diseases, conditions, and wellness issues in language you can understand.” Consider starting at MedlinePlus® when first researching a medical/health topic. Need information on hazardous chemicals, drugs, or public health issues? Check out the NLM TOXNET page, Drug Information page, or Health Services Research & Public Health Information Programs page. To see if a NLM resource can help with your research topic, consider searching is Databases, Resources & APIs site.
