LSAC Legal Education Grants for Orgs and Institutions

The Law School Admission Council (LSAC)—you know them as the administrators of the LSAT—hosts the annual LSAC Research Grant Program, a funding source for institutions and organizations conducting research in law school selection, legal education, and the legal profession. To be eligible for a grant, a research project must inform either the process of selecting law students or legal education itself. Projects will be funded for grants up to $200,000.

Possible research topics include-

  • Why students choose law school
  • Access to legal education
  • Economics of legal education
  • Effects of different teaching methods
  • Effects of new technologies
  • How legal education changes students cognitively, socially and behaviorally

Grants are made to an institution or organization, not to individuals. Principle investigators need not be based in law schools. There are two review cycles each year. The deadlines are September 1 and February 1.
