This Just In: First-Year Law School Success

First-Year Law School Success: The Ultimate and Essential Guide for Every 1L, now in its 4th edition, covers topics such as reading and briefing cases efficiently and effectively, quality note-taking, creating dynamic course outlines, writing outstanding exam essays, and avoiding law school traps.

Author Ira L. Shafiroff has been a professor of law at Southwestern Law School since 1982. He teaches Property and for many years Selected Topics in American Law, a course he designed to prepare students for the California bar exam, emphasizing bar exam essay-writing and multiple-choice testing. He was a longtime lecturer for BARBRI Bar Review, where he created and taught California BARBRI’s first essay-writing course for its general bar review program. Subsequently, he created an essay-writing course for first-year law school students. The first edition of First-Year Law School Success was an outgrowth of this course.
