Legal Research Apps for IPhones

UCLA Law Library has a handy chart Mobile Apps for Legal Research and News.  Many of the apps mentioned are free or low cost, most of them are for Iphones.  Fastcase and Lexis plan to have versions for Android and Blackberry available soon.   Just to highlight a few of the free Iphone apps:

  • Fastcase –  Search federal and state cases and statutes by citation or keyword.  For more information or to download the free app, visit www.fastcase.com/iPhone.
  • Lexis- Free to anyone with a current Lexis account.  You can pull up cases and shepardize them, but currently no searching is available. Download via the the iTunes App Store.
  • Lawstack – Preloaded with the U.S. Constitution, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, Federal Rules of Evidence, and the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.  Once downloaded, you can add state and federal statutes and federal regulations.  Available from the iTunes App Store.
  • Nolo Legal Dictionary – Available from the iTunes App Store
