Get a Certification in Electronic Legal Research

Looking to get some extra help with Electronic Legal Research?  Looking for something extra to add to your resume?  Then Certification from LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law might be just what you need.  What’s certification you ask?  Certification is a separate process set up by the companies that helps students learns the ins and outs of using each system from the basics to advanced.  Students receive instruction and need to pass an exam for each service.

For Westlaw, the Certification process can be done online.  To get started click: [here].

For Lexis, the process is a bit different.  You are required to attend in person training.  After the completion of the training, you take a National Certification Exam.  Once you pass this exam, your name appears on a National Registry of Certified students.  Employers use this registry to be sure that students have completed the program.   Classes for this semester will start in February and will be taught by our Lexis Rep. Jen Durkin.  Be on the lookout for more information on the Lexis certification.  To contact Jen Durkin, send an e-mail to: Jennifer.Durkin@lexisnexis.com .

Bloomberg Certification is not yet up and running but per our Bloomberg Rep. Chris Bartkowski, it will be available this semester.  Keep your eyes open for more details on this.
