Clever Ways to Get Your Summer Reads

Ah, summer.  A time to reacquaint yourself with books other than casebooks and relax a little. We can help you get your hands on your reading material of choice throughout the summer. Here’s how to use Scholar, OhioLINK and SearchOhio to request fun summer reading.

Say you’re working your way through George R. R. Martin’s epic fantasy saga, and you’ve made it to book three, A Storm of Swords. Try these three easy steps to see how you can get your hands on a copy.

Step One: Search for A Storm of Swords in Scholar, CSU’s library catalog. If we have it in the law library or the main university library, Scholar’s the quickest way to locate it. This time, though, we don’t hold a copy here, so on to step two.

Step Two: Check for the book in OhioLINK by clicking the green OhioLINK button while you’re in Scholar. Ends up, you can get A Storm of Swords through OhioLINK. But hey, this is a really popular title, so all of OhioLINK copies might be checked out. That’s when you have the option of going to step three.

Step Three: Check for A Storm of Swords in SearchOhio. SearchOhio allows you to borrow books from many public libraries around the state. This is good news for your summer reading, since your summer reading choices might not be found in the stacks of the law library (which is slanted more towards un-fun law books, go figure), or maybe even OhioLINK (which is slanted more towards academic books generally). You can pick up your SearchOhio books here at circulation desk, just like you would for OhioLINK materials.

So enjoy your summer reads — winter is coming.
