October is National Bullying Prevention Month.  Although there have been numerous efforts to tackle bullying, it remains a problem in today’s society.  To learn more about anti-bullying measures, check out School Bullying: How Long is the Arm of the Law by James C.  Hanks [find it].  Hanks discusses what states have done to prohibit bullying in schools.  Hanks also provides discussion on the numerous Constitutional issues that surround anti-bullying legislation, such as freedom of speech and due process.  Chapter three discusses major cases dealing with a school district’s right to regulate.  Hanks concludes the book by discussing some of the federal guidance on harassment and by providing some suggestions for dealing with bullying.
