LinkedIn Passwords May Be At Risk

LinkedIn logoIf you have a LinkedIn account, you should seriously consider changing your password.  Security firms are reporting that a file with over 6.4 million LinkedIn passwords was posted on a Russian forum site.  The passwords were still encrypted, but thousands of them were also cracked.  The file has been removed from the Russian site, but is sprouting up on other sites.  LinkedIn has acknowledged that some of these passwords “correspond to LinkedIn accounts.”  You can visit this site, provided by web craftsman Chris Shiflett, to see if your LinkedIn password was on the posted file.  Also, be on the look out for phishing emails, prompting one to connect to LinkedIn from the email.  Delete such emails, and only change your LinkedIn password at the LinkedIn site.  Additional information on this security problem is available from Sophos nakedsecurity and CNet News.
